A couple examine a scoring chart at the French Tandem Surfing Finals. The competitors are competing for a share of $3000 dollars in prize money. Contestants are judged on different types of lifts which are scored according to their difficulty with certain lifts getting many more points.
Tandem surfing is a hybrid of surfing and acrobatics. It originated in the 1930s in Hawaii when the Waikiki beach boys would take female tourists for rides on their boards it has since evolved into an international competition sport where couples perform complex Gymnastics on Surf.
