The market traders travel along the Nam Ou visiting different villages selling every kind of Chinese and Vietnamese product that one might need - like biscuits and flip flops, washing powder and salt. Ban Phatao will soon be temporarily relocating away from the Nam Ou river due to the construction of the Nam Ou Cascade Hydropower Project Dam 5.
