Selfridges Annoounces Job Losses

With most shops now open but with retail sales suffering due to the Coronavirus pandemic, upmarket department store Selfridges & Co has announced 450 job losses, as people wearing face masks pass a sign outside their flagship shop at the Bull Ring on 3rd August 2020 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The department store chain Selfridges is cutting 450 staff after saying that the coronavirus outbreak has led to the toughest year we have experienced in our recent history. Coronavirus or Covid-19 is a respiratory illness that has not previously been seen in humans. While much or Europe has been placed into lockdown, the UK government has put in place more stringent rules as part of their long term strategy, and in particular social distancing.
