  • Apsara dancers carved at Bayon, the central state-temple at the heart of Angkor Thom. Built in the late 12th century, Bayon is adorned with stunning bas-reliefs although is best known for it's amazing collection of towers, 37 in all, and the large majority of which are carved with four faces. Bayon was Jayavarman VII's  state temple and represents the pinnacle of his building campaign.
