The large 60s steering wheel is seen in the foreground and the vehicle’s leather seat looks shiny clean against the bright light. • A father and daughter wait for the man’s wife to return with their car after the family have returned from a booze-cruise from Dover to Calais. Back in England, the dad sits on crates of Fosters, John Smiths and Stella Artois lagers purchased in a French supermarket, considerably cheaper in Euros, than in Pounds. Waiting patiently with their merchandise, the two sit and stand beneath a road traffic sign telling adult pedestrians to hold on to their children as Dover is a busy sea port, where heavy trucks and fast-moving vehicles make it dangerous for the young. Booze cruises are popular ways of stocking parties inexpensively though with exchange rates fluctuating to make the Euro’s value against the British Pound, the booze cruise market slowed.

With an area of 234,291 square kilometres 90,460 sq mi, slightly more than half of the reserve will be closed to fishing.

  • A female mute swan (pen) incubates her eggs on a nest surrounded by plastic bags waste, in an urban water basin. Six eggs can be seen under her body as she shifts position and checks their location and safety - watching for any signs of hatching. She shares the space with wrappers and bottles, bags and cans tossed from a nearby walkway and perhaps drifted on the water from this urban basin in London's Docklands. The mute swan, which is the white swan most commonly seen in the British Isles, will normally mate at anytime from spring through to summer, with the cygnets being born anytime from May through to July. A swan's nest takes 2-3 weeks and the egg laying process begins with an egg being laid every 12-24 hours. They will all be incubated (ie sat on to start the growth process) at the same time with hatching usually 42 days (6 weeks) later.
