With a great deal of very expensive machinery required to run the farm, maintaining them is critical to both keep all processes moving, but also to save precious finances on repair bills. Wildon Grange Dairy Farm, Coxwold, North Yorkshire, UK. Owned and run by the Banks family, dairy farming here is a scientific business, where nothing is left to chance. From the breeding, nutrition and health of their closed stock of Holstein Friesian cows, through to the end product, the team here work tirelessly, around to clock to ensure content and healthy animals, and excellent quality milk.

  • Digging work on the front at Southend-on-sea, Essex. The town could be described as run down as while there are some signs of affluence, these are few and far between. The predominant atmosphere is quite rough feeling and quite poor. Southend is a seaside resort that is very popular with people from the East side of London due to it's close proximity, just an hour away by train along the Thames Gateway. With the decline of seaside resorts, from the 1960s much of the centre was developed for commerce and many of the original features were destroyed through redevelopment or neglect.

  • This is Karim Khan. He is 45 years old and comes from Paktia province. He is a specialist well digger. In this picture he is digging a 25m well in the courtyard of the Seyyid Hashim Serai, one of Kabul’s last remaining traditional merchant’s houses. The residents of Murad khane are enjoying improved conditions thanks to charity Turquoise Mountain. Turquoise Mountain was set up by Rory Stewart. He was asked personally by Prince Charles to take on the task of rebuilding the ancient heart of Kabul. His charity using local labour and the goodwill of the community is substantially into the task and has also set up a school training Afghans in traditional crafts. The area had literally been turned into a rubbish dump, now though using ancient skills the buildings are being restored to their former glory, Stewart is hopeful that he can contribute significantly to the local economy.
