  • A lady and her pet green iguana Iguanas stop walking along the surf in Miami Beach's coast for a moment to stand on the sand and kiss on the lips. Away from its proper habitat, this reptile looks comfortable in the hands of its affectionate mothering owner and in this warm climate. These exotic lizards' live in tropical rainforests, in lower altitudes near water sources, such as rivers or streams. They spend most of their time high in the forest canopy, about 40-50 feet above the ground. Iguanas are diurnal, awake during the day. They are also cold-blooded, so they do not produce their own body heat, so need warm temperatures to thrive. Many people in the United States and elsewhere want a green iguana for a pet, so there is a big demand for their capture.

As part of an annual event in Ruskin Park in the London borough of Lambeth, neighbours and friends meet for an afternoon of self-initiated events including this visiting reptile and its nearby owner. Sat at her workstation, she is almost in sunlight but the foreground is dominated by the romantic couple seen on a cruise holiday somewhere, posed on the rail of their ship with a blue ocean behind them. • Despite a gloriously bright summer afternoon, we see a depressing corner of Southend-on-Sea's Adventure Island. A young couple sits on some white towels in front of a wall that is adorned with graffiti and has its paint rubbed away. It is a scene of squalor and desolation in a town that makes revenue from the day-tripper holiday market. Since Victorian times, many Londoners have traditionally come to this south-east coast on the Thames Estuary, close to the capital. Towns like this have seen a marked decline since the advent of the package tourism in favour of exotic beaches in Spain.

  • Beneath an ugly breeze block concrete wall, a couple are enjoying their holiday in the English seaside town of Paignton, Devon. Sitting in striped deckchairs they are both curiously touching their own genital areas between their legs, perhaps both scratching an itch. The lady in sunglasses wearing a floral dress on the left looks guilty while her topless male partner appears more amused by the interruption. In this depressing corner of Paignton, also called the English Riviera, the grey construction behind them is a grim reminder of what it is often like to holiday in one's own home country where few exotic luxuries are found. Such squalor is unfortunately common around the UK and a reason why people take their vacations abroad. Even the grass below them is bare with weeds growing and soil at the foot of the wall.

London Fashion Week is a clothing trade show held in London twice each year, in February and September. It is one of the Big Four fashion weeks, along with the New York, Milan and Paris. The fashion sector plays a significant role in the UK economy with London Fashion Week alone estimated to rake in £269 million each season. The six-day industry event allows designers to show their collections to buyers, journalists and celebrities and also maintains the city’s status as a top fashion capital.

  • Southbank's Festival of the World staircase landscape with part of Korean artist Choi Jeong Hwa's hundreds of bright green plastic colanders around the grey columns, instantly transforming them into exotic plants. The legs of a person climbs the bright yellow stairs and a contractor in a matching green t-shirt to the colanders walks underneath. Southbank's events (on the south bank of the Thames) are a summer-long Festival of the World made up of many smaller festivals and weekends. Together they create our story showing how art is changing the globe in surprising and exciting ways.

  • Two siblings ride on a baggage trolley at London Gatwick's terminal building. Pushed by their mother along the airport's hall, they pass a bar where a man and woman sit on stools in some sort of intimate moment. It's a great adventure for the kids, as they leave for the family vacation to an exotic destination although riding baggage trolleys can be dangerous and discouraged by aviation officials.

  • Shop selling fresh fish in Wan Chai’s thronging food market on Bowrington Road in Hong Kong, China. Almost any food can be bought here, both fresh or cooked, on this stall it was possible to buy some very exotic fish as food. Unlike western markets, almost anything goes in Chinese wet markets. Wan Chai is a busy Chinese shopping district totally different to nearby westernised Central.

  • A lady office worker sits at her desk near the romance of a poster for a cruise holiday. Sat at her workstation, she is almost in sunlight but the foreground is dominated by the romantic couple seen on a cruise holiday somewhere, posed on the rail of their ship with a blue ocean behind them. There is the promise of escapism for this office worker, whose dull life is spent behind a window while others are enjoying the time of their lives on an exotic adventure.
