  • A crowd of striking ambulance drivers and other health service personnel gather in Trafalgar Square in central London to protest over poor working conditions. A placard showing a pair of hands holding a human heart telling us that they are important public serve because they help save lives. But unclean ambulances, one-hour queues to drop patients off at A&E departments and 12-hour shifts with little or no breaks about pay lowered staff morale so that paramedics implemented a work-to-rule policy to protest about a lack of resources. Ambulance workers enjoyed unprecedented levels of public support during the six-month dispute as opinion polls found more than four out of five people consistently backed the unions.

A topless man dances with a girl whose legs are wrapped around his waste, his broad chest and muscled upper-body to the crowds below who are dancing to the loud music pumped out through open windows on this summer's afternoon in the heart of Soho. The DJ is being filmed by a cameraman and union jack flags are strung up along the sill. The UK gears enjoys a weekend and summer of patriotic fervour as their monarch celebrates 60 years on the throne. Across Britain, flags and Union Jack bunting adorn towns and villages.

  • British spectators celebrate a gold medal win by Team GB Triathlete Alistair Brownlee in the Triathlon, held in Hyde Park during the London 2012 Olympics, the 30th Olympiad. Girl sports fans wave their union jack flags above their heads as thousands watch a giant TV screen with the Albert Memorial in the distance. Brownlee came first followed by Spain's Javier Gomez then Jonathan Brownlee (brother of the winner). The venue was the Hyde Park 142 hectares (350 acres) Hyde Park in the heart of the capital, one of the largest parks in central London and the site of the Victorian Great Exhibition of 1851.
