  • Pasted to the wall in Gerrard Street, Soho, in London's Chinatown, the Metropolitan Police are appealing for witnesses to help with their investigation of a murder of Vien Xuan Cao, a Chinese immigrant who was murdered in this street after being attacked with a meat cleaver. The implication is that this was a Triad turf war, a territorial dispute between gang members of this secret society. We see the young man's face photocopied to the paperwork, laid over more traditional images of ethnic Chinese and a boxing contest promotional poster. "Can you Help?" reads the Police's appeal and alongside, the same text has been translated into Chinese for locals to read.

  • Wearing the traditional kimono, a middle-aged geisha lady from the 'Minamoto Kitchoan' store collects money from westerners in London on behalf of the Japanese Red Cross Tsunami appeal. While standing in the street on Picadilly, in the heart of Westminster, an English gentleman stoops to organise the contents of his briefcase. Originally, the Geisha were traditional, female Japanese entertainers whose skills include performing various Japanese arts such as classical music and dance. Such a scene is unusual on a London street but the tsunami disaster encouraged many ex-patriate Japanese to collect money from Europeans for their countrymen.

  • The words 'Last Day' are painted in white emulsion on a window Camden North London, England. A Jesus figure, dolls and various bric a brac are seen in the window behind the large lettering. Around a recession-bled Britain, high-street businesses have been going bust in their thousands. Britain has now endured eight recessions since the Second World War. No two recessions are alike, and that applies to the current slowdown also. It has been caused by a shock to the availability of credit, a massive build up of debt. The number of people out of work currently stands at almost two million. Given the rate at which the economy is deteriorating this could easily be above three million. From a continuing piece of work about windows and urban messages, the picture is from the project of closed business windows: 'Bust - the Art of Recession'.

  • This memorial has been placed where a man called 'Andre,' died at Butterfly Walk, London, England, UK. If we drove past this place where someone's life ended, the victim would just be an anonymous statistic but flowers are left to die too and touching poems and dedications are written by family and loved-ones. One reads: "“Did you witness anyone leaving the area with bloodstained clothing?." From a project about makeshift shrines: “Britons have long installed memorials in the landscape: Statues and monuments to war heroes, Princesses and the socially privileged. But nowadays we lay wreaths to those who die suddenly - ordinary folk killed as pedestrians, as drivers or by alcohol, all celebrated on our roadsides and in cities with simple, haunting roadside remberences.

He holds out his paper while wearing a bib saying Homeless Not Hopeless meaning that those without a home isn't necessarily without aspiration nor pride. But passers-by only want to continue their journeys unhindered and not bothered by what in Britain are known as charity muggers - or chuggers - and hated for their common presence on street corners, watching for their target demographics to donate hard-earned money. The bodyboard differs from a surfboard in the fact that it is much shorter and made out of foam. The modern board consists of a foam 'core' encapsulated by a plastic bottom and a softer foam top known as the deck. The core is made up from dow/polyethylene, arcel or, more recently, polypropylene.
