Zhongguancun or Zhong Guan Cun, is a technology hub in Haidian District, Beijing, China. It is situated in the northwestern part of Beijing city. Zhongguancun is very well known in China, and is often referred to as China's Silicon Valley. This is Beijing's computer district with numerous tech companies offices situated here amongst the many malls which sell electronics and electrons equipment of all kinds. The tech park started as a small office where two decades ago some students from a nearby university decided that computer equipment may be a thing of the future so set up a small company. It has expanded in this time to  cover many square kilometres.

Fellow-passengers wait by baggage trolleys in a civilised line beneath the information. Charles de Gaulle/Roissy is a hub airport for Air France north of the French capital. The departures information has schedule times, destinations, flight, satellite and gate numbers plus   remarks. Air travellers experience such misery every day and shows of how global air travel has become a routine, mundane and stressful for the everyday airline passenger - a far cry from when commercial flight was purely for the elite. An employee of the company that produces these boards carries one of his creations to a waiting van in a side street. The surface is wet and a warning sign in Spanish reads Walk with care and the pedestrians make their way back to their temporary home to continue their voyage. The Panamanian-registered MS Ecstasy is a 70,367 ton cruise ship carrying 2,052 passengers and 920 crew whose routes are mainly around the Gulf and Caribbean Sea.

  • Using the boat paddle as a chopping board, local boatman/fisherman, Savath prepares fish for cooking over an open fire which he has just caught by electric fishing in the Nam Ou river, Phongsaly province, Lao PDR. The Nam Ou river connects small riverside villages and provides the rural population with food for fishing. But this river and others like it, that are the lifeline of rural communities and local economies are being blocked, diverted and decimated by dams. The Lao government hopes to transform the country into ‘the battery of Southeast Asia’ by exporting the power to Thailand and Vietnam.

  • A red London bus is passing between sunlight and shadow as passengers sit patiently in heavy traffic on Piccadilly in Central London. At the back of the vehicle, a man is leaping on to the back to board via the entrance and exit, a characteristic of these old, classic modes of London transport. These buses are being fazed out in favour of more modern, cleaner fuel-burning vehicles where passengers can mount and dismount safer as many passengers injured themselves. The bus is a traditional design called a Routemaster which has been in service on the capital's roads since 1954 and is nowadays only seen on heritage and tourist routes. From any angle, the bus is easily recognisable as that classic British transport icon.

  • Corporal Karen McNally is a flight planning administrator in the 'Red Arrows', Britain's Royal Air Force aerobatic team. Reaching up across the information board, this RAF lady is responsible for maintaining this vital part of the team's logistical plans that are outlined on this busy calendar of their movements and appearances at a seasonal series of air shows and fly-pasts across the UK and a few European venues. Since 1965 the squadron have flown over 4,000 shows in 52 countries and are an important part of Britain's summer events where aerobatics aircraft perform their manoeuvres in front of massed crowds. Corporal McNally is a part of the team called the Blues, the team's ground support personnel that outnumber the pilots (the Reds) by 8 to 1.

Euro-tourism accounts for 27% of the total flow and in total, tourism accounts for 11.3% of Egypt's GDP so communities like this are suffering economically, as a result.
