  • Two ladies are seen gossiping about someone else in the caseta (marquee) during the Spring Feria in Seville, Spain. Holding on to their small aperitif glasses the two beautiful ladies are close together comparing notes and mischievously swapping opinions during the later afternoon before a whole evening's entertainment when they will party till dawn. They are both dressed in traditional red and white flamenco dresses with red and yellow scarves around their necks. • Three beautifully-dressed horses with their rider parade through the streets of Seville in Andalucia, Spain during the city’s Spring Feria. Adorned in baubles and tassels the animals are on their best behaviour for the crowds who watch an equestrian display of horses and decorated carriages that wind their way through the city and fairground. La Feria de Sevilla began as a cattle trading fair in 1847, and through the years it has evolved into a sexy Spanish round-the-clock spectacle of flamenco, bullfighting and rowdy fun. Seville holds its annual fair in rows of temporary marquee casetas, hosting families and friends which begin during the April Fair two weeks after the Semana Santa, or Easter Holy Week in the Andalusian capital.

  • It is night-time on Blackpool's Golden Mile, the seaside resort in Lancashire, England. Like an English Las Vegas the neon lights glow to entice the holidaymaker inside where slot machines, games and rides await visitors to lose their vacation money. The Golden Mile is the name given to the stretch of Promenade between the North and South piers. It emerged in the late 19th Century, when small-time fairground operators, fortune-tellers, phrenologists and oyster bars set up in the front gardens of boarding houses, This northern seaside resort in the north-west of England is diverse in its transient holiday population whose behaviour can be routinely odd. Blackpool is the largest resort in the north of England and visited traditionally by working people from industrial towns and cities during the industrial revolution.

  • David Reynolds (aka Eco) is a long-term activist, campaigner in the peace movement and resident of the Faslane Peace Camp, Scotland. His home of three years is called the Earth Shack and is largely re-cycled from scrap and garbage found locally on rubbish tips. Eco leans against his garden fence holding a mug of coffee this chilly Sunday morning. Signs of his political beliefs adorn the place: CND logos and Peace on Earth statements. His mother was a ‘Carnie’ (after the word Carnival, someone working on the fairgrounds) so perhaps it’s from her that he more enjoys an alternative outdoor camping lifestyle after a few years in the army. Faslane Peace Camp is a makeshift site alongside Faslane Naval base where Trident nuclear deterrent missiles and submarines dock. The camp has been occupied continuously, in a few different locations, since 1982.
