  • Star Ferry Terminal at Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon at night. Hong Kong Harbour glistens under the night sky and lights from the many buildings and skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island. Founded in the late 1800’s the Star Ferry Company still runs today and is one of Hong Kong’s most classic sights, much like Red Buses in London. There are various services which run from different points on the Kowloon side and Hong Kong Island.

  • A Dutch-registered dredger works in waters of the Port of Ramsgate, a closed but once busy ferry terminal, on 8th January 2019, in Ramsgate, Kent, England. The Port of Ramsgate has been identified as a Brexit Port by the government of Prime Minister Theresa May, currently negotiating the UKs exit from the EU. Britains Department of Transport has awarded to an unproven shipping company, Seaborne Freight, to provide run roll-on roll-off ferry services to the road haulage industry between Ostend and the Kent port - in the event of more likely No Deal Brexit. In the EU referendum of 2016, people in Kent voted strongly in favour of leaving the European Union with 59% voting to leave and 41% to remain.

  • The Monday morning following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th we see commuters disembarking from the Staten Island Ferry terminal in Manhattan. Bravely returning to office desks they find their city skyline missing the Twin Towers with Manhattan still in a state of perpetual shock and still under a mist of smoke from the debris at Ground Zero. To celebrate the return to commercial near-normality, New Yorkers' spirit was proved intact by the hanging of US flags from buildings. An American flag hangs over the workers walking along a exit gantry before emerging into the morning before another working day.

Britains Department of Transport has awarded to an unproven shipping company, Seaborne Freight, to provide run roll-on roll-off ferry services to the road haulage industry between Ostend and the Kent port - in the event of more likely No Deal Brexit. • Beyond Chinese TV media images, a red sun sinks behind late cloud in the west, a glowing red sky illuminates Hong Kong's harbour, this scene is symbolic of the decline of empire, the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) two years after this picture was taken, often referred to as "The Handover" on June 30, 1997. Midnight of that day signified the end of British rule and the transfer of legal and financial authority back to China. From this famous ferry terminal that protrudes out into the busy waters of this colony’s harbour from the Kowloon side of the territory. Hong Kong was once known as 'fragrant harbour' (or Heung Keung) because of the smell of transported sandal wood in the days before China ceded its territory to the British for 155 years until the 1997 deadline.
