Velika Planina is a mountain plateau in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps - a 5.8 square kilometres area 1,500 metres 4,900 feet above sea level. Otherwise known as The Big Pasture Plateau, Velika Planina is a winter skiing destination and hiking route in summer. The herders huts became popular in the early 1930s as holiday cabins known as bajtarstvo but these were were destroyed by the Germans during WW2 and rebuilt right afterwards by Vlasto Kopac in the summer of 1945.

This walking route traverses land that may become part of the development for the new transport hub. With the panoramic views beyond, we see an unspoilt landscape that could controversially become the site for London's estuary airport, built on reclaimed and marshland on the river Thames, east of the city. Current London mayor Boris Johnson is in faviour of this project to alleviate pressure from other airport hubs, regardless of wildlife (especially a nearby protected bird sanctuary).

  • Walkers make their way towards Gordale Scar, on 12th April 2017, in Malham, in the Yorkshire Dales, England. Gordale Scar is a limestone ravine 1 mile 1.6 km northeast of Malham, North Yorkshire, England.[1] It contains two waterfalls and has overhanging limestone cliffs over 100 metres high. The gorge could have been formed by water from melting glaciers or a cavern collapse. The stream flowing through the scar is Gordale Beck, which on leaving the gorge flows over Janets Foss before joining Malham Beck two miles downstream to form the River Aire. A right of way leads up the gorge, but requires some mild scrambling over tufa at the lower waterfall.

Once part of the Nunhead to Crystal Palace (High Level) railway which once passed through this flat part of Sydenham Hill Woods, its track bed can be followed to a disused and closed tunnel which is now a registered bat roost. Sydenham Hill Wood forms part of the largest remaining tract of the old Great North Wood, a vast area of worked coppices and wooded commons that once stretched across south London. The habitat is home to more than 200 species of trees and plants as well as rare fungi, insects, birds and woodland mammals.

Velika Planina is a mountain plateau in the Kamnik–Savinja Alps - a 5.8 square kilometres area 1,500 metres 4,900 feet above sea level. Otherwise known as The Big Pasture Plateau, Velika Planina is a winter skiing destination and hiking route in summer. The herders huts became popular in the early 1930s as holiday cabins known as bajtarstvo but these were were destroyed by the Germans during WW2 and rebuilt right afterwards by Vlasto Kopac in the summer of 1945.
