This hospital delivered only high-end medicine to foreign patients and telemedicine was popular in the 90s when a growing awareness of the potential benefits of advanced medicine, emerging democracies, growing middle classes and an ageing population world-wide established locations like this in Scotland. But they were expensive to build and run and this hospital at Clydebank of up to 500 beds catered primarily for foreigners who flew into Glasgow airport, was built with the assistance of £30 million of public money, went into receivership when its target of overseas business was slower to build-up impacting its cash flows.
