  • Seen in close-up, we see the keys of a Steinway grand piano. The esteemed manufacturer’s logo Steinway & Sons is written above the words Patent Grand and New York & Hamburg. This piano was part of an auction held by Bonhams of the contents of Stokesay House, a Victorian mansion that was locked up for decades but being sold off after the last member of the rich industrialist family of John Derby-Allcroft whose ancestors could no longer afford the property’s upkeep. Its contents of almost pristine collection of Victoriana personal effects and furniture, clothing, and memorabilia that was largely stored away from the fading and deteriorating qualities of daylight, went under the hammer and the house is now a hotel. The piano was in almost perfect working order apart from the yellowing ivory keys having been covered under cloth.

Sir William Butlin conceived of its creation based on his experiences at a Canadian summer camp in his youth and by observation of the actions of other holiday accommodation providers, both in seaside resort lodging houses and in earlier smaller holiday campsThe camp began opened in 1936, when it quickly proved to be a success with a need for expansion. The camp included dining and recreation facilities, such as dance halls and sports fields. Over the past 75 years the camp has seen continuous use and development, in the mid-1980s and again in the late 1990s being subject to substantial investment and redevelopment. In the late 1990s the site was re-branded as a holiday resort, and remains open today as one of three remaining Butlins resorts.

  • An odd job maintenance man bends awkwardly on a pair of stepladders to reach an internal light fitting in the cafeteria area of auditing company Ernst & Young's Norman Foster-designed 385,000 square foot European headquarters at More London, England. Dressed in blue shirt and dark trousers and with keys attached to his belt, the balancing man stretches into the hole left by the light to access wiring. To his right we also see an idyllic scene of wild meadow flowers, a carpet of red flora that goes into the distance though incongrously, the reflection of many cafe lights are seen in the sky of the meadow picture. Ernst & Young employs 114,000 people, in 700 locations across 140 countries around the world.

  • A depiction of a local event during the English Civil War depicting local historical figures appearing in stained glass windows part of an auction held by Bonhams of the contents of Stokesay Castle, the oldest fortified estate house in Britain originating in the late 13th century. During King Charles I reign it came into the ownership of the Craven family and was used as a supply base for the King's forces in the area, based in strength at nearby Ludlow Castle in the early stages of the English Civil War. <br />
A skirmish took place at the castle during the English Civil War, in which Stokesay was handed over to the Parliamentarians after a short siege without a pitched battle. It is at present in the hands of English Heritage.

Hammers, chisels, screw drivers, hacksaws, alan keys and spanners all their own location giving the idea of a well-organised workshop.
