• Half-way across the Gulf of Mexico, between Miami and Cancun in Mexico, Carnival Cruise's Fun Ship Ecstasy's passengers are on the Sun deck to enjoy the first few days sailing on the tropical seas. One of the ship's photographers has passed around a ship's circular life ring buoy through which one busty blonde lady has posed for a photograph and is about to pass it on to her nearest neighbour. She is wearing a garish pink and yellow bikini and is holding the life-saving device so that only her breasts are showing, obscuring her face. We see the name of the ship, Ecstasy, around the ring and the plastic ropes are falling on the lady's cleavage, forming circles around her bosoms. In the background, another cruise traveller (traveler) wears a straw sun hat and is also sitting on a blue sun lounger. We see exposed, tanned skin and it looks baking hot with the tropical sun at its zenith, directly overhead at mid-day. Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of cheaper and shorter cruises. Its ships are known for their Las Vegas decor and entertainment. The line calls its ships The Fun Ships. The MS Ecstasy is a Fantasy class cruise ship featuring two pools, whirlpools, a variety of dining options, nightclubs, a casino, and duty-free shopping. After Hurricane Katrina, she spent six months in New Orleans serving as quarters for refugees and relief workers. She suffered heavy damage in 1998 after the laundry room in the ship's stern caught fire damaging much of her stern and aft section.

 • Portraits of cast members for the 'Dear Evan Hansen' musical are seen through a life ring outside the Noel Coward Theatre on St. Martin's Lane in the heart of the capital's West End Theatreland, still closed to audiences during the Coronavirus pandemic, on 29th September 2020, in London, Westminster, England. Despite the government's £1.15bn financial rescue package for the Arts industry and cultural organisations in England , made up of £880m in grants and £270m of repayable loans, London's theatre industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, being closed since the March lockdown closures which has affected 137,250 Arts industry jobs, worth £21.2bn in direct turnover.

 • Soon after setting sail from Miami, en-route to Cancun in Mexico, passengers of Carnival Cruise's Fun Ship Ecstasy liner are told to report on the top sun deck for the obligatory safety drill. Told to fetch their life vests from their respective cabins and suites, they have gathered at various muster points around the vessel to hear the crews' instructions about abandoning ship or the precuations needed to enter the water. We look down from a higher deck to see several dozen tourists on red vests, milling around awaiting the signal to return to their previous activities and entertainment. Operators like US-owned Carnival take these drills very seriously. Carnival was a pioneer in the concept of cheaper and shorter cruises. • A life belt hangs on a cross-shaped post, all painted a vivid red as the sun sinks down below the horizon and beyond the historic Bamburgh Castle, in Northumberland, northern England. Lit with a strong off-camera flash we see the slightly blurred device, invented for saving lives at sea, with a ghostly corona around its form, against a fading blue sky. The rope dangles near the ground, around which the grasses of the dunes blow in a faint breeze. Only the foreground is lit by the flash and the distant castle building and shoreline. We see such equipment and imagine safety and rescue and also jeopardy and hazards at sea. Supplied for those taking risks and making stupid decisions makes these items essential on coastal areas.

 • Sarah, at Atnas Kandie Primary School. Sarah was lucky enough to find a sponsor to pay her admission fees and cover her uniform and books – barriers that prohibit many of Kenya’s poorest children from attending the country’s free primary schools. Thanks to the charity Marys Meals she also gets school meal, hugely important when Sarah’s mother is so poor they are often made homeless while saving for the rent. When she is not at school she works on the dumps collecting rubbish for the family to survive.

Making a living from collecting rubbish in Eldoret is no easy job; disease, injury, substance abuse and even the threat of violence is an everyday reality for the people who live and work at the dump. It’s especially hard for the mothers and their children forced through poverty to scrape a living of around $1 dollar a day.

 • Corporal Mal Faulder pushes a Martin-Baker ejection seat through an RAF Hangar. He is an Armourer (an engineer handling seats and weaponry on military jets) but here in the elite 'Red Arrows', Britain's Royal Air Force aerobatic team, his duties are wider. With other members of the team’s support staff (the Blues who outnumber the pilots the Reds by 8 to 1) he also helps clean the Hawk aircraft before air shows across the country. He pulls the seat into a blast-protected bunker for safe storage where explosive charges inside this equipment are temporarily removed. The seat is returned to service when the aircraft is through its regular maintenance schedule. British company Martin-Baker manufacturers ejection seats and membership of the its Tie Club is solely for air crew who have ejected from an aircraft in an emergency which saved their life.

 • Aboard the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy, a father and son are practicing wearing life-preservers during the first few hours of their voyage from Miami around the Gulf of Mexico. They and every passenger on-board are being instructed by members of the ship's crew to muster (gather) in specific locations around the vessel before heading further out to sea. Under international law, everyone on a holiday ship like this needs to know what do in the event of an emergency at sea so well-organised drills are rehearsed on deck. The baby looks uncomfortable wrapped in his life vest but sucks on a pacifier dummy. The father looks relaxed in the knowledge that their lives are not risk on this occasion. The Panamanian-registered MS Ecstasy is a 70,367 ton cruise ship carrying 2,052 passengers and 920 crew belonging to Vegas-style Carnival Cruise lines.

 • Two different types of Energy-saving light bulbs or compact fluorescent lamps in a row on a shelf - 11 watts is equivalent to a 60 watt incandescent bulb and 14 watts and is equivalent to a 75 watt. These light bulbs are a form of fluorescent lighting, which produces less heat than incandescent (filament) bulbs; therefore more of the electrical energy is converted to light, making them more efficient.

The laying on of hands is a religious practice found throughout the world in varying forms. In Christian churches, this practice is used as both a symbolic and formal method of invoking the Holy Spirit during baptisms, healing services, blessings, and ordination of priests, ministers, elders, deacons, and other holy church ceremonies.

The yellow doors at the top of steps with two doormats are open to welcome worshippers of this Christian community in south London. Inside are the voices and cries of the faithful, gathered on Easter Sunday, an important date in the Christian calendar. The cross is mounted on the inside wall, illuminated by its neon tube inside the plastic outer casing.

 • Samuel Makomi 42 (Photographed on edge of dump). "I use to make bags but was fired from my job so I have worked here ever since , its been over 20 years now. “Its not a safe or nice place to work. You can get injuries here from bottles and infections from needles; I got malaria once and was ill for a month. There is fighting here as well when the boys get high or they are fighting over something valuable; and fatalities. A man was high and slipped and fell under the path of a lorry – another broke his leg. I would like to start my own business selling shoes or clothes but cannot afford to save. I make about 150 – 200 shillings a day ( £1-1.50).”

Ocean Rebellion, Sea Life Extinction, Animal Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion joined together to celebrate the biodiversity found in our seas, and to grieve at the destruction of the Earth’s oceans and marine life due to climate breakdown and human interference, and the loss of lives, homes and livelihoods from rising sea levels. Extinction Rebellion is a climate change group started in 2018 and has gained a huge following of people committed to peaceful protests. These protests are highlighting that the government is not doing enough to avoid catastrophic climate change and to demand the government take radical action to save the planet.
