• A lively group of friends, family and corporate clients have gathered to enjoy a traditional evening of Flamenco, Tapas and sociable gossip while at the Feria, an annual festival of culture and dance in Seville, Andalucia, Spain. In the centre are two ladies talking and two younger girls practicing their dance moves amid frivolous partying. Everyone here is impeccably dressed in smart jackets and tasteful ties and traditional Spanish dresses. The party venue is dark and chaotic and the atmosphere is energetic and lively at a club venue called Adrenaline Village in Battersea, South London.

It is early evening and the street is full of colour from the artificial lighting that creates an inviting mood for those browsing the menus on offer in this lively part of London's West End. • A passer-by stands next to a menu from a Chinese restaurant in Gerrard Street in London's Soho Chinatown, England. In the background are rows of roasted duck strung up in the steamy window in which a cook attends to a pot of steamed Dim Sum. It is early evening and the street is full of colour from the artificial lighting that creates an inviting mood for those browsing the menus on offer in this lively part of London's West End. Life-long residents still base their businesses in this area of Soho in London’s West End though there have also been repeated claims that there are many illegal workers in London's Chinatown earning less than minimum wage and the illegal trade has association with the Triads

 • Lucy (13 ) photographed in one of the classrooms at Attnas Kandie School.
She collects rubbish when she’s not at school. She is one of five children – the eldest is at college but the other siblings help to support him by sorting rubbish. Lucy’s mum sometimes washes clothes for other people but is sick and can’t often earn enough to feed the children. Lucy is now in primary school and gets lunch there every day thanks to Mary’s Meals.

Making a living from collecting rubbish is no easy job; disease, injury, substance abuse and even the threat of violence is an everyday reality for the people who live and work at the dumps in Eldoret. It’s especially hard for the mothers and their children forced through poverty to scrape a living of around $1 dollar a day.
