Some rooms are lit in this remote residence which show signs of occupation. Red tail lights from cars, lorries and trucks streak by with tall traces of container traffic leaves light on the picture, diagonally leaving their mark. It is a very busy highway on which to own a home but this infrastructure is a vital route that keeps Britain's logistics moving across the country 24/7.

  • A  Hapag-Lloyd container cargo ship navigates past two fishermen on the southern shores of the River Thames at Gravesend, Kent England. Pausing from their fishing, the two men lean over the sea defence wall to watch the traffic to-and-fro as one giant vessel after another departs from Tilbury Docks towards open sea. The Thames has historically long been a route for shipping that kept the capital supplied and although the docks have seen huge decreases in traffic and volume since the second world war, Tilbury remains a busy hub for containerized vessels arrivng from all over the world. There are 133 Hapag-Lloyd containerships with a capacity of around 499.000 TEU (Twenty foot containers), Container capacity exceeds 1,1 million (TEU) containers.

  • Months after the fall of the Berlin wall and the collapse of the communist GDR state German Democratic Republic, a brown coal delivery man stops to shovel his polluting fossil fuel into local cellars, on 15th June 1990, in Aue, Saxony. Aue is a mining town in the Ore Mountains known for its copper, titanium, and kaolinite. The town was a machine-building and cutlery manufacturing centre in the East German era with a population of roughly 18,000 inhabitants. It was the administrative seat of the former district of Aue-Schwarzenberg in Saxony and part of the Erzgebirgskreis since August 2008.

Lancashire voted against permitting fracking but was over ruled by the conservative central Government. All the activists have been active in the struggle against fracking for years but this is their first direct action of peacefull protesting. Fracking is a highly contested way of extracting gas, it is risky to extract and damaging to the environment and is banned in parts of Europe . Lancashire has in the past experienced earth quakes blamed on fracking.

Folkestone Trawlers, process manage and market all fresh fish that is landed into Folkestone Harbour by local Fishermen. Folkestone, Kent. United Kingdom. A seaside town founded on its fishing industry which dates back to pre-Roman times. During its heyday there were over 100 boats operating out of the busy harbour and employing over 1000 people in the town. In 2016 there are 7 working boats left, employing just over 20 people. The boats are owned and managed by Folkestone families who have a strong fishing heritage.

Built in the 1850's, Hay's Wharf took deliveries from ships from all over the world and the area became known as the 'Larder of London'. The great Hay's Wharf complex has been restored to its former glory and those who visit the Galleria today stand on the same spot where the tea clippers from India and China edged their way into the dock 150 years ago.
