  • Local response to Coronavirus is felt on a street by street level as posters are pasted up on a hoarding promoting community love and belief, reading: Love each other, We can do this and Please believe these days will pass on 13th April 2020 in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom. Coronavirus or Covid-19 is a new respiratory illness that has not previously been seen in humans. While much or Europe has been placed into lockdown, the UK government has announced more stringent rules as part of their long term strategy, and in particular social distancing.

  • "I love Lambeth because .." post-it notes express an affection for south Londoners' home borough, left on a country show noticeboard. Pink heart-shaped stickers tell the viewer how much they appreciate life in this inner-city region of the capital where crime is a major negative aspect of living here. Many reasons are written by children whose optimism seems untainted.

  • I Love Dalston street art graffiti shutters in this fashionable East End area of London, UK. Dalston is a district of north-east London, England, located in the London Borough of Hackney The name Dalston is thought to have derived from Deorlaf’s tun (farm). The gentrification of the area has led to a rapid increase in the price of property. The process of change has been accelerated since the East London line extension. It is an area where arts are embraced.

  • A clutch of deflated red love balloons and a Valentines Weekend banner on a brick wall in south London. Looking up we see a detail of the bright reds of the banner and balloons plus electrical and telephony wiring tacked along the bricks on Walworth in the London borough of Southwark. It is a scene of sadness and depression - a dystopian landscape of ended love after the annual celebration of amour and relationships. The depressed wall shows us the opposite of the perfect Valentine ideal.

  • An elderly couple sit in a central London cafe with love hearts theme stencils. The romantic couple are seated in the window as they talk to each other across their table inside. We look across other tables and chairs with red and blue theme complimentary colours on the spectrum. Empty places take our attention to the pensioner lovers in a scene of romance, relationships and perhaps marriage too.

  • Love Will Tear us Apart. Street art in the East End of London is an ever changing visual enigma, as the artworks constantly change, as councils clean some walls or new works go up in place of others. While some consider this vandalism or graffiti, these artworks are very popular among local people and visitors alike, as a sense of poignancy remains in the work, many of which have subtle messages.

  • People interact with a mural at Borough Market which serves as a personal dedication and homage to the terror attack at London Bridge by graffiti artist Jimmy C, on 4th April 2017 in London, United Kingdom. The heart shapes, which are a regular fixture of the artist’s work are a call to respond with love not fear. While the piece is not specifically designed as a memorial to those who died on June 3rd 2017, it is already being taken into people’s hearts where the attacks took place, and seems inevitable to become a focus for remembrance and commemorations in the future.
