  • A smart elderly lady walks into a late sun on a chilly afternoon on the Kings Road, Chelsea, London, England. Striding past the viewer she has a determined look on her face, a purpose for reaching her destination without delay and oblivious to other influences. Other shoppers are walking in her directionand their faces are also lit by the sunshine but in the background they are less prominant than the woman in the foreground. With so little highlights, this image is full of low-key shadow making it dark and gloomy. Kings Road Chelsea is a chic street that found modern fame during the Sixties when pretty young things paraded their new-found fashion clothing.

  • Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova (from Tver, Moscow) is the highest-ranking ladies' darts player, having beaten the 7 times champion Trina Gulliver. Here, she competes in an England Open tournament at the Bunn Leisure Holiday Park in Selsey, near Chichester on the south coast of England. Attractive and feminine, she is confident and at ease with her game amid many lesbian women who frequent darts matches like this. She concentrates on each dart thrown and is oblivious to the audience's noise behind her in an upstairs pub at the holiday park. This is one of her many tournaments she travels to during the darts events calendar although she needs to repeatedly renew her visa to gain re-entry into the UK.

  • A lady protects herself from a mid-day summer summer sun with a brightly coloured parasol brolley. Oblivious to the viewer, she balances her lunch snack on her lap with toes pointing inwards, exposed to the hot solar rays. Meanwhile, she holds on tight to her eager pet poodle dog who is straining on its leash, wanting to go for a walk along the largely unpopulated promenade in this Devon resort, otherwise known as the English Riviera. But splashes of white paint (from the painted beach huts) have been left on the pavement. It is a horrible place to sit in the sun and her partner has left her alone to sit on her sun lounger, leaving the second chair vacant.

  • A young boy peers over a clump of vegetation to spy on four beautiful women who are all lying face-down in a sandy dune near the seaside resort of `Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. The girls are oblivious to the attention he is giving them and he cheekily stands, undiscovered, with hands on hips. The four females are in bathing costumes and one is topless with their possessions strewn about the sand. It is a hot afternoon in the sand dunes and the girls are in an otherwise secluded, windless spot. They remain unaware they are being watched by a pre-pubescent voyeur.

  • With his personal belongings and beach shingle surrounding him, a man sits on his seaside towel in soft sunlight in Dover eating a snack which is dribbling out of his mouth. The skin from many previous hours of exposure to solar radiation has left him raw and sunburned and therefore dried and dying skin is peeling in shreds on his back and shoulder. He looks like an eccentric local character who seems oblivious to the health risks that his continued sunbathing is inflicting on his bizarrely scorched body.

  • With dozens of deck chairs behind him, a sleeping middle-aged man lies bare-chested with a flat cap on his head and with his socks on as all Englishmen tend to do during a summer heat wave. He has chosen a spot in a near-empty Hyde Park in central London - an oasis of calm amid a bustling city – where a seat in a striped deck chair can be rented for a few Pounds for the day and one can snooze topless without being bothered and one’s stresses of daily life can be momentarily forgotten. With one hand resting on his leg, the other reaches down to hold on to his shoulder bag which is in the shade on the short grass.

  • We are looking down from above to office and business workers who are lying down and relaxing in the grass in their lunch break at Finsbury Circus, a circular green park space in the heart of London's financial district, the City of London. Surrounding them is an art instillation of steel sheep that are incongruously grazing among the assorted people, much like they once did when London was a home to livestock en-route to market and other animals used for transport. It is a warm afternoon and in the foreground, a man wearing a dark suit has taken off his polished shoes and is lying his head on his jacket in the warm afternoon, loosening his tight tie and stretching his neck. Elsewhere, a lady is sitting eating a packed lunch with the Sun newspaper and a man a little further behind is in jeans and plimsoll shoes. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. The City of London is a geographically-small City within Greater London, England. The City as it is known, is the historic core of London from which, along with Westminster, the modern conurbation grew. The City's boundaries have remained constant since the Middle Ages but it is now only a tiny part of Greater London. The City of London is a major financial centre, often referred to as just the City or as the Square Mile, as it is approximately one square mile (2.6 km) in area. London Bridge's history stretches back to the first crossing over Roman Londinium, close to this site and subsequent wooden and stone bridges have helped modern London become a financial success.

  • Having removed his shoes and socks, and with his wallet sitting on his stomach, a city office workers stretches out over the lush grass during a hot summer lunchtime in trinity Square in the City of London, England. With feet wide apart and arms spread, the young man is clearly fast asleep under a hot mid-day sun. Risking sunburn after prolonged solar radiation exposure, he is joined by dozens of other co-workers who also enjoy the inner-city heatwave.

  • Snatching a well-earned lunchtime snooze, two young office workers in Trinity Park in the City of London. The young man on the left has his arms folded across his chest, his dark pinstripe suit apparently a little warm on this fine day. To his left is another youngish gentleman who looks less formal: his jacket opened and his tie crooked while his open mouth might emit snores in this public space. The bench which is owned by the Corporation of London has pigeon droppings on the back and arm rest but these two tired people care less about animal hygiene than the chance to steal a few precious minutes sleep before re-entering their office buildings and returning to desks.

  • An eccentric middle-aged man rests his legs on his bicycle while -open mouthed and snoring - snatches forty winks on a striped deck chair in London's Hyde Park, England. We look down on the grass which is still green and lush on this summer's day in the heart of the city. He is wearing a flat cap with trousers (pants) tucked in his socks for his next bicycle journey. He is a quintissentially English sunbather enjoying a quiet snooze in a public park open space.

  • Using a tabloid newspaper, a father seeks shelter from sunshine while sitting in a council deck chair. On the front page of the paper is a headline saying "Butchered' showing a picture of an unfortunate young 3 year-old boy murdered by a maniac axeman. Close-by is the man's own son who is digging a hole furiously in the sand. He looks uncannily like a slightly older version of the murdered boy. This coincidence is heightened because of the body-language of the digging lad, seemingly about to chop an unseen object with his red spade. Both man and boy are on holiday at the northern English seaside resort of Scarborough, North Yorkshire and they are otherwise having a great time on South Beach, near the Grand Hotel building, high up on the cliff.

  • A pedestrian is about to step out across a central London street, crossing the words Look Right as a taxi cab turns left. Seen in black and white, we see snowflakes frozen by flash on this urban street corner in the City of London, the heart of the capital's financial district. The stencil words tell walkers to watch oncoming cars, easy to miss when not concentrating and the cause of many injuries (mainly to tourists) to those not used to traffic on the opposite side of the road to the rest of Europe.

  • An elderly and eccentric couple sit on a park bench in the French Mediterranean resort of Juan-les-Pins near Antibes, with their own pet dog on a lead while watching an Afghan Hound which struts past in a showy manner. The shaggy Afghan's coat resembles the colour of the lady's own pet and the texture of her own coat. It is around mid-day and looks warm but the couple are dressed for deepest winter, oblivious to the warm sunshine. The hairy Afghan strides ceremoniously and with great style, while the small pooch on the peoples' lead looks nervous and uncomfortable. Juan-les-Pins is a town in the commune of Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes, in southeastern France, on the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur).

  • Amid the hectic arrivals concourse of Heathrow airport's Terminal 5, a young couple hold on to each other tight after a few weeks separation when the girl took a family holiday away from her boyfriend who needed to work here in London. They have clearly missed each other after such a short break from each other but are otherwise oblivious to the crowds that surround them in this busy international airport. They embrace with genuine affection for each other in a display of sexual freedom that is otherwise seen as a taboo in other countries. • A young male admires a sexy girl watched be the statuette of a small woman credited to the 19th century Florence-born artist Raffaello Romanelli. In afternoon sunlight, the girl is on the corner of Albermarle Street and Piccadilly, London W1, Westminster. Oblivious to the attention on her by an unknown man, the girl in blue walks fast along the pavement listening to her portable device, a career girl in the fast modern city - the opposite of the classical figure in the rug and carpet shop window who bares a breast while wearing jewellery. The female form is on show to the male of the species.

  • A mature romantic couple cuddle in a London street. • Following UK commercial driving law, a lorry driver relaxes by reading in a window at the M40 motorway services in Warwickshire, England. Leaning back while engrossed in his book, the man is sitting in sunlight on this summer's day. Outside is a poster advertising the premium ice cream brand, Magnum. A girl is shown also lounging about enjoying a Magnum on a beautiful sun-kissed beach, with the sun reflecting on a calm sea. We see Magnum's web site and their products of Classic and White chocolate snacks in their wrappers. The man is oblivious to the nature of the ad but it lends a sense of paradise versus reality, between the fantasy of youth, natural beauty and the reality of an older working man on the road.

  • Women use smartphones outside a corporate office entrance with city reflections in glass. As strangers, the ladies don't know each other and the one on the right walks past the other, oblivious to her presence, busily texting or dialling a number on her phone. The address shown in reverse on the window is One Wood Street in the capital's financial heart - the City of London, known as the Square Mile, founded by the Romans in AD43. Wood Street EC2, was where wood was once sold in medieval times, mentioned in the writing of Charles Dickens but devastated during WW2. The giant plane tree in the background rises over 70 feet high and fated in the annals of London history for almost 600 years.

  • Employees of the former US giant ENRO corporation at the London offices in March 2000, stand at the doors to a lift (elevator) amid glass and polished steel. We are looking up at them from the ground floor as they wait for the lift to bring them down the building’s atrium. This is in the months before the company’s subsequent collapse with the loss of 22,000 people worldwide. Enron Corporation was an American energy company based in Houston, Texas. Before its bankruptcy in 2001, Enron was one of the world's leading electricity, natural gas, pulp and paper, and communications companies, with claimed revenues of nearly $101 billion in 2000. Oblivious to their employer’s troubles, the two men seem relaxed in this workplace which allowed them to work in casually dress, rather than in formal suits, an apparent hallmark of the company’s lax work ethic.

  • A beautiful brunette woman is watched by an unknown male in a club in London's West End during a packed Bhangra-themed music night. As if being stalked by this male pest, we see a moment in this young woman’s evening as she enjoys a night out with girlfriends. The man scratches his nose at the same time as the woman brushes her hand against her cheek. It is hot in the busy club and the man is seen perspiring – he may be a stalker and he may be an innocent bystander – but it does look as though he has a keen interest in this dark-haired beauty. The Asian music is loud and the atmosphere is a pounding throng of young people but our attention is still with the two people, one oblivious to the other.
