  • An unseen person's hand reaches from the corner of the picture to offer a chip (French fry) to a hovering seagull at Minehead on the Somerset coast, South-west England. Another younger person has turned around to see what is happening but is also holding up his hand to other birds  none of the others are accepting the free meal. The summer afternoon sky is filled with bird life but clear of clouds and is a deep coastal blue which echoes the reaching shirt sleeve.

The festival, which is called in Chinese "Miao Hui" takes place only once every 8 years for the Que Ken Ba Village. Villagers go to Chao Tian Yan temple to carry the Guan Yin Buddha (God of Mercy) back to their village's temple. (Sept.19-22 is the festival time, chinese calender) keep for a year, to protect the villagers, bring them good luck, happiness and fortune. At the end of the year, Sept.19 following year, the village send back the Buddha to Chao Tian Yan temple, and another village will carry it to their village's temple. there are 8 villages in this festival, so by turn, every village get a chance every 8 years. Chao Tian Yan temple dates back 700 years ago. The special festival has started since then, was only stopped for around 20 years because of Culture revolution. It<br />

  • Saints at Säben Abbey, Klausen, South Tyrol, Italy. Säben Abbey is a Benedictine nunnery established in 1687, when it was first settled by the nuns of Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg. Säben was for centuries a centre of pilgrimage and controlled an extensive religious precinct. Situated above the town of Klausen, the hill it is built on what was already settled during the New Stone Age. On the site of the present nunnery there was an earlier Roman settlement.

  • Father Chris Vipers is a Catholic Priest who is raising the wafer during Liturgy of the Eucharist Mass at St. Lawrence's Catholic church in Feltham, London. Positioned at the altar that serves as the holy table, he uses the wafer as the sacramental bread, sometimes called the lamb, altar bread, host or simply Communion bread and is the bread which is used in the Christian ritual of the Eucharist. All of this takes place in the main section of the church where the priest's congregation participates this morning with the theme of St Bartholomew, the Apostle. A painting of a Holy scene has been reproduced above the altar and we see a few heads of his local community looking on.
