  • A house-proud housewife trims her lawn with a pair of scissors in new housing on a terraced Liverpool street. Stooping down to ground level, the lady snips and preens individual blades of grass on an almost perfectly manicured lawn. Her home is new, surrounded by the early 20th century and Victorian terraced housing that populates this part of north-western Britain. There are few cars and two other people cross the road without fear of approaching vehicles – the economy here is largely depressed. And yet, the female gardener has taken the trouble to mow her garden and then trim her esteemed plot. She wears an orange suit too, a splash of colour in an otherwise drab street.

  • On its regular morning walk and wearing a matching red coat as its owner, a small dog exercises in Holmead Road in the experimental community village of Poundbury, Dorset, England. As the mutt looks at the camera, the man waits for him to stop sniffing around before moving on. The pair stand on crunchy gravel, a deterrent for would-be thieves who might be tempted to this small town where middle-class residents live. Poundbury is the visionary model village that Charles, Prince of Wales sought to develop in 1993 as a successful and pioneering town near Dorchester, built on land owned by his own Duchy of Cornwall, challenging otherwise poor post-war trends in town planning and to some extent following the New Urbanism concept from the US except that the design influences are European.

  • Two Hawk jets from the elite 'Red Arrows', Britain's prestigious Royal Air Force aerobatic team, almost touch in mid-air at an altitude of approximately 4,100 feet in the Mediterranean skies above Cyprus. The texture of mottled cirrus cloud provides a soft background for the aircraft which approach each other at a combined air speed of approximately 800 miles per hour (1,200 kph). The Opposition Loop is flown by the two pilot partners known as the Synchro Pair who fly independently of the other seven in the second-half of their 25-minute show. The two jets have vegetable dye and derv (diesel fuel) smoke mixture coloured red, blue or white. Here it traces the paths of both airplanes which curve from the edges of the frame to the centre (center). To the crowds far below, both look as if they are on collision course but will safely pass within feet of each other.

  • An elderly couple sit in peace on a quiet beach in the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. In a classic English beach holiday scene, the husband and wife relax, reclining in a pair of deckchairs at a kiosk that dispenses these quaintly British beach chairs. A sign telling other holidaymakers to collect and pay for their time in them appears on the freshly-painted clap-board wall. As the lazy completes word puzzles in her magazine, the gentleman reads his regular copy of the Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper. He is tanned, perhaps spent his summer tending his garden back home but here on holiday, they both have the chance to spend some time together away from home, in a resort known for its beaches and coastal adventures.

The camp included dining and recreation facilities, such as dance halls and sports fields.
