  • Seen from a high viewpoint, three girls jump up to see over the high hedges of Longleat yew Hedge Maze. They cannot otherwise see over the walls of foliage, so tall is the labyrinth of twisty pathways of green foliage. Made up of more than 16,000 English Yews, Longleat’s spectacular hedge maze - the world's largest - was first laid out in 1975 by the designer Greg Bright. The Maze covers an area of around 1.48 acres (0.6 hectares) with a total pathway length of 1.69 miles (2.72 kilometres). Unlike most other conventional mazes it’s actually three-dimensional.

  • Steep stone carving pathway to the Hall of Preserving Harmony made from one single piece of marble at the Forbidden City, the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, China, and now houses the Palace Museum. For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government. Built in 1406 to 1420, the complex consists of 980 buildings. The palace complex exemplifies traditional Chinese palatial architecture, and has influenced cultural and architectural developments in East Asia and elsewhere. The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.

  • At the start of another day's work, pilots belonging to the elite 'Red Arrows', Britain's prestigious Royal Air Force aerobatic team, walk in single-file out into the pink morning light for the first winter training flight of the day at RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire. Emerging from their squadron building the aviators make their way along a pathway towards the waiting Hawk jet aircraft known the world over. Wearing winter green flying suits and carrying their helmets, their day is spent flying and de-briefing up to six times a day when weather permits. Long shadows spill over on to the airfield's cropped grass. Scampton is one of the original World War 2 RAF stations for the Lancaster bombers the 617 Dambusters squadron who attacked the damns of the German Ruhr valley on 16th May 1943 using the Bouncing Bomb. Today, it is used almost exclusively by the team.

  • Taken from a tall apartment block, we see an aerial view overlooking the ex-Portuguese colony of Macau's Chinese Christian cemetery of San Miguel. The Cemiterio de São Miguel Arcanjo (Saint Miguel Catholic Cemetery) is located right in the middle of Macao island, on Estrada do Cemiterio and host the graves of the old Dutch and Portuguese colonials that helped shape Macau, now one of the world's most densely-populated city. We see a single Chinese lady walking along one of many criss-crossing diagonal pathways carrying a red bucket of water to tend these graves. She appears tiny compared to the multitude of plots, some which have crosses and others which have simple headstones. They are mostly neat and tidy but some have become overgrown with grass sprouting up. Macau's gambling revenue in 2006 weighed in at a massive £3.6bn - about £100m more than Las Vegas. The official languages are Portuguese and Chinese. The Macau Special Administrative Region is one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China (PRC), along with Hong Kong. Administered by Portugal until 1999, it was the oldest European colony in China, dating back to the 16th century. The administrative power over Macau was transferred to the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1999, 2 years after Hong Kong's own handover.

  • Looking down from a high viewpoint, prospective auction bidders take notes from their catalogues of old red British Telecom (BT) pay phone boxes which are lined up on display in their hundreds before the actual sale starts. The 'lots' are squeezed together along pathways allowing customers to thoroughly inspect their potential purchases' details. This is a wide-angle picture taken on the slant with the distant boxes curling around to the left. One man in blue who has opened the stiff-opening door, cranes his neck to look up into the ceiling of these solid cast-iron frames. The K-series kiosks were largely designed in 1936 by the iconic designer Giles Gilbert Scott.

  • A sun symbol belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal (UML - Unified Marxist Leninist) is seen before elections in a wide landscape of a Himalayan valley in the Gorkha district, one of the 75 districts of central Nepal. Beyond the red-painted sign that has been painted in red on a footpath rock, unavoidable by community passers-by, are fertile terraces where rice and other agricultural crops are growing to sustain villages in these foothills. The light is clear and we can see into the far distance to valleys and hills beyond.

It shows us the 20% lower fuel consumption and operating costs along with beautiful graphics of the plane itself and its future dominance around the world's air routes. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long range, mid-sized, wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It seats 210 to 330 passengers, depending on variant. • Parade of plane trees leading to the village of Tournissan in the south of France.<br />
Many countries today use the French term “allée” – generally translated as “avenue” in English – to designate a road lined with trees which have been deliberately planted at regular intervals on either side of the roadway, be it a pathway in a park, an urban thoroughfare or a country road. These routes from the 17th century lead to the birth of the “boulevard” – a term which had its origins in military engineering but now took on a new meaning, designating a tree-lined promenade around the outskirts of a town or city.

  • A Closed Footpath sign fallen into a hole during pavement works in the south London borough of Lewisham. A blue plastic barrier inexpertly blocks the broken paving stones at a pedestrian crossing in Brockley in south London. And we notice the upside down sign telling the public that the pathway is closed, dangerous to use and evidence of disruption to the inform or users of wheelchairs or childrens' buggies. Comically, the notice is itself, falling down the hole.
