  • A person squeezes past a mysteriously abandoned Vauxhall car resting at 45 degrees, off the road but blocking a pavement on Ruskin Park, on 2nd February 2018, in Southwark, London, England. Because the car isnt blocking the highway, this is not a police matter - but causing an obstacle on the pavement makes it a council problem.

Adding to this mountain of refuse, the 'Scouse' man (someone from Liverpool) is seen surrounded by black binliners and items from domestic homes which have been allocated this public space to become a temporary landfill. The industrial action aginst the local authority - over pay and working conditions - was a health problem for Liverpool's population during the summer of 1991 when streets filled with rubbish. Vermin like rats ran around and public city parks such as this were filled with every kind of refuse and garbage.

  • Park Inn Palace Hotel and seafront overview at Southend-on-sea, Essex. The town could be described as run down as while there are some signs of affluence, these are few and far between. The predominant atmosphere is quite rough feeling and quite poor. Southend is a seaside resort that is very popular with people from the East side of London due to it's close proximity, just an hour away by train along the Thames Gateway. With the decline of seaside resorts, from the 1960s much of the centre was developed for commerce and many of the original features were destroyed through redevelopment or neglect.

  • Red Ferrari supercar parked near Sloane Square in Chelsea as a Citroen 2CV passes. Rich and poor vehicles. In a selected few boroughs of West London, wealth has changed over the last couple of decades. Traditionally wealthy parts of town, have developed into new affluent playgrounds of the super rich. With influxes of foreign money in particular from the Middle-East. The UK capital is home to more multimillionaires than any other city in the world according to recent figures. Boasting a staggering 4,224 'ultra-high net worth' residents - people with a net worth of more than $30million, or £19.2million.. London, England, UK.

  • People enjoying the various rides at Adventure Island Funfair at Southend-on-sea, Essex.

  • In a rear alleyway between poor terraced housing in Liverpool, England, we see many black bin-bags are left against industrial brick walls awaiting collection during the Merseyside dustmans' strike of 1991. The cobbled alley of these 'back to back' houses are in a poor area, south of the city centre and home to deprived families. The industrial action against the local authority was a health problem for Liverpool during the summer of '91 when streets filled with rubbish. Vermin like rats ran around and public city parks filled with every kind of refuse and garbage. Few of these back-to-backs now exist after being cleared to allow construction of high-rise tower-blocks and flats.

  • Surrounded by black bin-bags during the Merseyside dustmans' strike of 1991, two young "Scouse' girls lean against a brick wall in a rear alleyway between poor terraced housing in Liverpool, England. There is an older, taller white teenage girl with blonde hair dressed in a blue shell-suit and a shorter and younger friend of Asian-descent. Looking suspicious and amused at something across the cobbled alley of these 'back to back' houses in a poor area, South of the city centre, home to deprived families. The industrial action aginst the local authority was a health problem for Liverpool during the summer of '91 when streets filled with rubbish. • Low-budget east London housing and the 2012 Olympic stadium that dominates the end of a street of a nearby estate. Locals make their way up the road with the enormous arena behind that will hold 80,000. In a few months the world's attention will focus on the sports and personalities of athletes, financed by the UK's already struggling economy. Much has been reported over the legacy of such a mammoth project, the largest of urban parks created in Europe for more than 150 years built during a worldwide recession. Londoners were originally promised free event tickets but communities like this are largely excluded from the games.

  • Street landscape near the Westfield City shopping complex, Stratford. On a new stretch of highway recently finished for those circumnavigating the perimeter of the Olympic park and its nearby shopping centre. The outer barrier of the Olympic Park is 2.5 sq km and circles a huge area of the borough of Stratford in the borough of Newham. The new landscape often looks incongruous to those living on many poor estates, excluded from the events. But this regeneration is the legacy by the government who promise a brighter future for this part of east London.

  • Exterior of The Castle Leisure Centre, the new facility replacing the old after redevelopment, built by the south London borough of Southwark, on 1st September 2016, at Elephant & Castle, London, England UK. The regeneration of Elephant is a controversial change to this area of south London where a poor segment of society and more recently a migrant population has traditionally proliferated. With the construction of a new estate called Elephant Park comes a wealthier but less present occupier, more interested in investment than integration.
