  • A For sale sign for the estate agent (realty) Kinleigh Folkard & Haywood sits outside properties in Fawnbrake Road, London SE24. We are looking up at the tall sign that is on top of a wooden pole. Edwardian houses are in the background as well as autumnal trees. An airliner flies overhead and late afternoon sunshine warms the landscape in orange light. Kinleigh Folkard & Haywood is a London-based company, founded in 1977 by Lee Watts and Philip King. Apart from sales and lettings, they offer financial services, mortgage advice, surveying, conveyancing and property management. They have 50 offices across London with over 500 employees.

  • A young reader in the re-opened Carnegie Library on Herne Hill in south London which has opened its doors for the first time in almost 2 years, on 15th February 2018, in London, England. Closed by Lambeth council and occupied by protesters for 10 days in 2016, the library bequeathed by US philanthropist Andrew Carnegie has been locked ever since because, say Lambeth austerity cuts are necessary. A gym that locals say they dont want or need has been installed in the listed basement and actual library space a fraction as before and its believed no qualified librarians will be present to administer it. Protesters also believe this community building will ultimately sold off by Lambeth council for luxury homes.

  • Faded grandeur of Casa Miralinda, a mansion house now abandoned and crumbling, on 17th July 2016, in the spa resort of Luso, Portugal. Across the country, and even at important tourist landmarks, buildings sit vacant and often collapsing. Sometimes it is because a previous generation have passed away to leave properties in the hands of arguing families. Beautiful buildings are therefore left to collapse in town centre. In the 11th century, Luso was a sleepy village linked to a monastery in the hills near Coimbra but it became a lively spa resort in the 1700s as its hot water springs became a focus for tourism.

  • BAE System Hawks of the Red Arrows, Britain's RAF aerobatic team and airfield signs landscape. Six Hawk jet aircraft of the elite team, taxi in after another training flight past warning boards that are appropriate for armed jet fighters at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus rather than aerobatic planes. From a low angle we see a wide landscape looking over the taxi-way markings that direct military airplanes. The Red Arrows aircraft are a deep red colour that stand out against the horizon in an identical line. It is a wide expanse of road surface, the yellow centre-lines are for the benefit of pilots who need guidance for parking areas after landing, or leaving towards the departing runway on the southern part of the Cypriot Mediterranean island. With the Red Arrows, the taxiing jets all peel off in unison to and from the parking area and these lines are vital for this technique.

  • Household refuse pollutes a coral beach on Meedu Island, an indigenous community in the Republic of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. Packaging, foodstuffs and general waste has been tossed away on this otherwise beautiful place, north of the capital Male. Unfortunately, the practice of tossing away one's rubbish is a normal practice in this culture, the local people selfishly unconcerned about the future of their habitat and the health of their community. Only a few miles from Meedu are islands that serve as holiday resorts where families from Europe travel by air for the perffect vacation - unaware that fly-tipping is so widespread that it threatens this nation's worldwide status as a paradise on earth.

  • An aerial view of unidentified islands seen from a regional aircraft passing overhead the atolls and islands to the north Malé, capital of the Indian Ocean Republic of the Maldives. We see the perfectly clear blue sea surrounding the islands and tiny sandbanks of white coral beach sand, all of which are in jeopardy of rising sea levels as global warming makes sea level locations like this vulnerable to being overwhelmed. The only sign of life is the tiny island in the bottom right of frame where holiday resort accommodation ring this dot in the ocean. The Maldives comprise of twenty-six atolls, featuring 1,192 coral islands of which 80 are holiday resorts with 200 inhabited by indigenous communities. This Islamic nation of 298 sq km (115 sq miles), lie seven hundred kilometres (435 miles) south-west of Sri Lanka.

  • Local London Estate Agent Hunters, advertises a school Chrostmas fete with a mention on their housing placard. Looking upwards to the sign, we see beyond and stretching into the distance a row of Victorian terraced homes in the south London suburb of Herne Hill, Lambeth SE24, approximately 5 miles south of the river Thames. As a piece of local PR, the company likes to be viewed as helping the neighbourhood by sponsoring events such as this Christmas market in the nearby school.

  • Four estate agent's property boards advertise their names and numbers in a London housing estate, each representing vendors selling their houses and flats for a set commission in the housing market. Above the signs is the pink blossom from a cherry tree whose branches hang over the temporary information boards. The term originally referred to a person responsible for managing a landed estate, while those engaged in the buying and selling of homes were "House Agents", and those selling land were "Land Agents". However, in the 20th century, "Estate Agent" started to be used as a generic term, perhaps because it was thought to sound more impressive. Estate agent is roughly synonymous in the United States with the term real estate broker.

  • A typical steamy night gets under way in a downtown Beal street Bar in Memphis. Today There is still some great music to be found here but, like its famous sister Nashville, one has to navigate some typical US commercialism in the search as the town cashes in on its reputation. Most of the residents of this bar seem to be tourists but the music is outstanding and and the tips jar is simply a reflection of the harsh realties for many musicians in these crowded music towns.
