This is having a huge impact on smallholder farmers who depend on one cash crop leaving them vulnerable to any changes in weather patterns. If their crops fail they are left with no other source of income for that year. In central Mindanao Oxfam is working with local partners and governments to increase awareness of climate change in poor communities and reduce the risks it creates to vulnerable farmers by supporting them in crop diversification.
