  • Workmen from a nearby construction site, admire a lone, young woman walking past in a City of London street. The lady looks uneasily down so as not to maintain eye contact on the men eager to eye her up and down in a moment of sexist attention accepted by the working man. The woman may be well-educated and successful with a good job and intelligent friends while the men are pleased to spend their lunchtime admiring the opposite sex.

  • Nasima, 32. I started sex work six years ago. My husband is in Iran and one of my friends introduced me to some clients. My target was to earn money. My husband doesn't know the work I do. If he knew he would divorce me. Yes I am afraid he will find out. He thinks I work in a beauty parlour. It is not a good thing to do this work. I want to stop. We are afraid of the police. If they catch us they put us in the court or they release us if we pay. Sometimes they ask for $1,000. I earn 6,000 to 10,000 Afghanis in a week - I have three to four clients. I know the clients so they are not violent towards me, they are safe. Before we didn't use condoms but after we went to the clinic, now we do.

  • In the shadow of 1 Canada Square, the iconic Canary Wharf tower in London's Docklands stands as an icon for Thatcherite Britain when the good times, prosperity and economic upturns seemed unshakeable. Four work colleagues stand under a hot lunchtime sun during a summer heatwave. In their shirtsleeves the men each hold pints of refreshing lager, all having removed their dark jackets to enjoy the company of a flirtatious female who appears to be flirting with an older male companion. The sky is blue and the five are care-free to any future economic uncertainty.

  • A woman pretends to grope the bottom of a TV cameraman as Londoners experience the unexpected intensity of localised solar rays, reflected off the concave plate glass windows of one of the capital's newest skyscrapers known as the Walkie Talkie. The hotspot has surprised developers and passers-by below and which has already melted a parked car and left soft street fittings smouldering in Eastcheap Street, City of London, the capital's financial district. Thermometers placed in the street reached 144F (62 celcius) and city workers poured out of their offices at lunchtime to winess the strange phenomena of intense light and heat.

  • Following UK commercial driving law, a lorry driver relaxes by reading in a window at the M40 motorway services in Warwickshire, England. Leaning back while engrossed in his book, the man is sitting in sunlight on this summer's day. Outside is a poster advertising the premium ice cream brand, Magnum. A girl is shown also lounging about enjoying a Magnum on a beautiful sun-kissed beach, with the sun reflecting on a calm sea. We see Magnum's web site and their products of Classic and White chocolate snacks in their wrappers. The man is oblivious to the nature of the ad but it lends a sense of paradise versus reality, between the fantasy of youth, natural beauty and the reality of an older working man on the road.
