  • Two local children squeeze through railings of the  unkempt cemetery attached to the Blaenau Baptist Church in the south Wales town of Abertillery (Welsh: Abertyleri). The kids have walked their dog through this field filled with old headstones and graves, playing safely in the open-air of this Welsh community. Rows of terraced Victorian homes line the distant end of this ground and then clinging to far hill side and beyond. Its population rose steeply during the period of (now defunct) mining development in South Wales, being 10,846 in 1891 and 21,945 ten years later. Lying in the mountainous mining district of the former counties of Monmouthshire and Glamorganshire, in the valley of the Ebbw Fach. In 2003, Abertillery was found to have the cheapest house prices in the United Kingdom, according to a survey by the Halifax Building Society.

  • A young man who is interested in joining the British army has dropped in to a recruiting office in Central London. Sitting in front of an action picture of serving soldiers already living their own adventurous dream for Queen and country. They are on manoeuvres with a tank and others in support from the same platoon in the background. The lad is reading every word a brochure published by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) called Infantry Soldier which will give him the facts about the job and answer his questions regarding a new career. With squeezes on the budgets for supplying servicemen's equipment, this young recruit may not find realities of life in the armed services as idyllic as is suggested on paper.

Lots of people squeeze past each other during the closing stages of London's Marathon as the pavements is narrower when crowd barriers control numbers. A young lady finds her way through other passers-by as the clock tower rises at an angle, the perspective of the wide-angle lens' distortion. The female's t-shirt has a woman's face from the xx clothing brand. This is also election time and the people are subject to the democratic process as they elect an new leader to govern the state.
