Wellington Square is off the King's Road Chelsea and was built around 1830: Named after the 1st Duke of Wellington (the heroic Commander-in-Chief of the British Army - most famously at Waterloo in 1815 - then a Tory politician and in 1834, temporary Prime Minister).

  • On the corner of Draycott Place SW1 and Cardogan Gardens SW3 is Stuart House, a red brick property boasting clipped vegetation set in a brick window recess that suggests that at one time, a window was removed and filled in with more brick - its mortar and pointing is a different spacing. Strong spring sunshine is almost overhead making hard shadows on the recess and on the well-painted black gloss paintwork on the railings. Stuart House was constructed in 1880.   • A navigational wooden structure shaped like the letter T on the shingle beach of Dungeness, Kent. Originally these structures were used for navigation as boats approached the shore. When Dungeness A power station was built it obscured the church steeple at Lydd, a previously prominent landmark to the north. Lining up these wooden structures would allow boats to safely find their route home.

  • London 8th September 2012: A fire breaks out in the empty buildings of a former primary school called Bessemer Grange, off Denmark Hill in the south London borough of Southwark. Two firefighters carry out a heavy gas cannister away from the heat and flame. The former pre-school structure was eventually gutted after several fire tenders arrived to douse the flames which had already taken hold of the prefabricated structure. Bessemer Grange junior school and the current nursery occupies a location across the road and is on the former site of Victorian iron magnate, Henry Bessemer's mansion.

  • Empty rigid-design gas holders architecture at the Oval, South London. The steel frames are seen against an afternoon sky at Oval, in south London - their strengthening architecture showing how the gasometer design has been an effective method storing gas for a hundred years. The Oval Gasholders at The Oval cricket ground, in spite of no longer being used, are now a grade 2 listed structure. Typical volumes for large gasholders are about 50,000 cubic metres, with 60 metre diameter structures. Gasholders tend to be used nowadays for balancing purposes (making sure gas pipes can be operated within a safe range of pressures) rather than for actually storing gas for later use.
