  • Backstage after the last show of their tour, Bernard Georges shows us his sweat marks. Throwing Muses at the Islington Assembly Hall, London, UK. Throwing Muses are an alternative rock band founded in 1980. The group was originally fronted by two lead singers, Kristin Hersh, and Tanya Donelly. Known for performing music with shifting tempos, creative chord progressions, unorthodox song structures, and surreal lyrics, the group was set apart from other contemporary acts by Hersh's stark, writing style, David Narcizo's unusual drumming techniques almost totally without cymbals and Bernard Georges’ driving baselines.

  • The Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti performs in London during the free Party in the Park concert to celebrate his 30 years in opera. A crowd of 100,000 stood in the London rain to watch Pavarotti perform 20 arias by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and Wagner. VIPs the Princess of Wales, Prime Minister John Major and Michael Caine got soaked in heavy rain along with everyone else sitting on the grass cowering beneath tarpaulins. We see the rotund Operatic maestro in full flow, belting out an aria while dressed in formal tails and wastecoat and holding his customary scarf that he uses to dab the sweat from his brow. Pavarotti helped bring an otherwise high-brow artform to the ordinary Man after the BBC used his rendition of Nessun Dorma to theme their World Cup TV coverage. This lead the way to Opera reaching the Common Man in Britain.

  • A small group of men are together on the beach just opposite to Ocean Drive on Miami Beach. Two of them are in the foreground and each wear sun glasses, each holding cigars that may be Cuban in origin, a popular source of tobacco leaf in this region of America. They have recently been immersed in the sea and water drips down their rather flabby bodies with the gentleman on the left sucking on his cigar with a belly that expands around his tanned midriff. It is intensely bright, sunny day on the sand, seen behind. Flash has emphasized the water drips and the male sweat and we also see a very clear blue tropical sky.

  • Two young British Asian men stand in front of a Bollywood action hero poster, while waiting for a bus in Southhall, West London, England. The lads are in their early twenties and are dressed against the cold European winter. The muscular Indian man in the movie poster is in his prime, posing as a tough guy and making a serious face towards the viewer, his rippling biceps wet with sweat. We see two ordinary young men living the harsh reality of life in a big English city, with all the pressures, paradoxes and cultural differences of India or Bangladesh, and that of multicultural Britain. It may be sunny but the biting winter day is raw with cold.
