  • Tourists point out landmarks from the second level of the Eiffel Tower, Paris. Looking towards the trocadero on the opposite bank, the woman wears a hejab and gazes in the same direction as the male. In the far distance is the tall Defense development. The Eiffel Tower (nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) is a puddled iron lattice tower standing 320 metres (1,050 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-story building. It is located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world.

  • A strip of tourist postcards is on sale as a workman passes-by carrying ladder near the Eiffel Tower, at the Trocadero, Paris. It is an exceptionally dark and gloomy day in the French capital. In the foreground we see the uncut of tourist mementoes being offered for sale by North African vendors, hawking whatever they can to the many coaches that stop here on the Paris tour route. Images of the Mona Lisa, the Louvre art gallery, Notre Dame cathedral and the city skyline can be bought. But more strangely is the workman passing-by carrying a ladder, on his way to cleaning nearby windows. The ladder resembles the rung-effect of the postcards’ strip while in the background is the Eiffel Tower, rising above rooftops and the plaza floor.

  • Winter sunshine on the Eros statue landmark in Piccadilly Circus, on 6th February 2018, in London, England. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain is located at the southeastern side of Piccadilly Circus in London, United Kingdom. Moved after World War II from its original position in the centre, it was erected in 1892–1893 to commemorate the philanthropic works of Lord Shaftesbury, who was a famous Victorian politician and philanthropist. The monument is surmounted by Alfred Gilberts winged nude statue generally, though mistakenly, known as Eros. This has been called Londons most famous work of sculpture.

  • A family of four watch the River Seine from the south bank (Rive Gauche) beneath the Pont d'Iéna. The four people start in size from large to small as they look out across the waters of the French capital's main river. Pont d'Iéna ("Jena Bridge") is a bridge spanning the River Seine in Paris. It links the Eiffel Tower on the Left Bank to the district of Trocadéro on the Right Bank. The structure was designed with five arches, each with an arc length of 28 m, and four intermediate piers. The initial construction, the cost of which was enormous at the time, was fully financed by the State and spanned six years from 1808 to 1814.
