  • From a high vantage point looking across the atrium of British architect Sir Richard Rogers' Lloyds building, we see the post-modern architecture of the insurance underwriters Lloyd's building, home of the insurance institution Lloyd's of London which is located at number 1, Lime Street, in the heart of the City of London. Lloyd's is a British insurance market. It serves as a meeting place where multiple financial backers or "members", whether individuals (traditionally known as "Names") or corporations, come together to pool and spread risk. Unlike most of its competitors in the reinsurance market and is neither a company nor a corporation. The Lloyds market began in Edward Lloyd's coffeehouse around 1688 and is today the world's leading insurance market providing specialist insurance services to businesses in over 200 countries and territories.

  • Looking down from a high vantage point, we se boy pupils seated as they gather in front of the Headmaster during morning assembly at the City of London School for boys in central London. Individual faces in neat rows stretch into the distance as we look past the Headmaster who is addressing, facing his students. Some seem serious, a few are looking bored while one boy can be seen coughing into his hand and another looking away with a smirk. We can see a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds, skin colours and hairstyles. The City of London School (CLS) is a boys' public school on the banks of the River Thames. It traces its origins to a bequest of land by John Carpenter, town clerk of London in 1442. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. Lined up along the concrete ledge near Praca Marques de Pombal in the largely corporate and banking district of the city, they take photos and cheer their favourite players, including the national hero/deity, Christiano Ronaldo.

  • Taken from a tall apartment block, we see an aerial view overlooking the ex-Portuguese colony of Macau's Chinese Christian cemetery of San Miguel. The Cemiterio de São Miguel Arcanjo (Saint Miguel Catholic Cemetery) is located right in the middle of Macao island, on Estrada do Cemiterio and host the graves of the old Dutch and Portuguese colonials that helped shape Macau, now one of the world's most densely-populated city. We see a single Chinese lady walking along one of many criss-crossing diagonal pathways carrying a red bucket of water to tend these graves. She appears tiny compared to the multitude of plots, some which have crosses and others which have simple headstones. They are mostly neat and tidy but some have become overgrown with grass sprouting up. Macau's gambling revenue in 2006 weighed in at a massive £3.6bn - about £100m more than Las Vegas. The official languages are Portuguese and Chinese. The Macau Special Administrative Region is one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China (PRC), along with Hong Kong. Administered by Portugal until 1999, it was the oldest European colony in China, dating back to the 16th century. The administrative power over Macau was transferred to the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1999, 2 years after Hong Kong's own handover.

  • We are looking up from the ground to crowds gathered in three levels of a multi-story car park to await athletes pass during the London Marathon. The runners will make their way through the streets of East London beneath these spectators who have been patiently waiting for their friends and families to pass below. It is a great viewpoint from which to view such a sporting spectacle and we are peering up at the supporters leaning against the discoloured (discolored) concrete architecture dating back to the 1970s. It is the best elevated place to witness the race. There are three rows of 5 columns totalling 15 seperate windows and each one is full of families young and old. They resemble the compartments of a garden pet hutch where rabbits are kept in cramped conditions.

  • Seen from an office block high vantage point, thousands of commuters pour northwards over London Bridge against the direction of queueing buses and cars. It is a scene about the transient business community and mass transport. The working population arrives early for work over the bridge in the City of London's historic financial district. We see the sunlit faces of those walking towards the viewer which echo the red tail lights of the stationary vehicles. So gridlocked is the traffic on the southbound carriageway, there is a lone cyclist stuck and squeezed between the curb and a double-decker bus. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. The City of London is a geographically-small City within Greater London, England.

On the other side of the road, the street is almost empty of motors adding to the drama and chaos. The City of London has a resident population of under 10,000 but a daily working population of 311,000. The City of London is a geographically-small City within Greater London, England. The City as it is known, is the historic core of London from which, along with Westminster, the modern conurbation grew. The City's boundaries have remained constant since the Middle Ages but it is now only a tiny part of Greater London. The City of London is a major financial centre, often referred to as just the City or as the Square Mile, as it is approximately one square mile (2.6 km) in area. London Bridge's history stretches back to the first crossing over Roman Londinium, close to this site and subsequent wooden and stone bridges have helped modern London become a financial success.

  • Looking downwards from a high vantage point on a hillside, we see one mountain-biker leading a second cyclist as they traverse across a sunlit mountainside near the hamlet of Masecha in the parish of Triesenberg, Liechtenstein. The late afternoon sun is low across the valley and there is a haze that partly obscures and refracts light over the distant landscape. There is snow on the distant mountain peaks but the countryside has the brown look of a snowless winter. Far off villages and hamlets hug the hillsides and golden light floods the scene. The tiny landlocked Principality of Liechtenstein is bordered by the Alpine countries of Austria and Switzerland and is a winter sports resort, though best known as a tax haven, attracting companies worldwide to register their assets in secrecy.

  • From a low vantage point looking upwards, the atrium of British architect Sir Richard Rogers' Lloyds building in the City of London. We see the post-modern architecture of the insurance underwriters Lloyd's building, home of the insurance institution Lloyd's of London which is located at number 1, Lime Street. Lloyd's is a British insurance market. It serves as a meeting place where multiple financial backers or "members", whether individuals (traditionally known as "Names") or corporations, come together to pool and spread risk. The Lloyds market began in Edward Lloyd's coffeehouse around 1688 and is today the world's leading insurance market providing specialist insurance services to businesses in over 200 countries and territories.

  • Crowds have gathered overnight before the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales – the Peoples' Princess - after her tragic car crash death in Paris. It is early morning in the Mall and families wait patiently and reverently behind police barriers lining the route where her body followed by the royal family will pass in a few hours. Tens of thousands have claimed their places for good vantage points while dressing the railings with flags and pictures and candles spelling her name along with flowers that will be thrown across the road as her cavalcade drives slowly past. Their monarchist sympathies ensure that the nation is mourning this popular lady while angry with the Queen’s apparent inability to show sympathy herself.

  • An aerial view of a west London Porsche car salesman in his salesroom. We look down from a high vantage point to see three of his sports cars looking highly-polished in this expensive and exclusive market for elite cars. Two 911 (964) Carrera models from their 1992 range are seen in red and black - one an open top and the other a saloon. The Porsche 964 is the company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994, designed by Benjamin Dimson in 1986 and built in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
