The World Turned Upside Down is a large political globe, four metres in diameter, with nation states and borders outlined but with the simple and revolutionary twist of being inverted. Just as evening light is fading, we look through net curtains to the President's formal photograph that adorns embassies and high commissions around the world. Seating for those awaiting visas etc. is seen below the frame and London streets reflected in the distance. Controversial Robert Gabriel Mugabe has served since 31 December 1987. As one of the leaders of the rebel groups against white minority rule, he was elected as Prime Minister, head of government, in 1980, and served in that office until 1987, when he became the country's first executive head of state. He has led the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) since 1975.

  • Russian Anastasia Dobromyslova (from Tver, Moscow) is the highest-ranking ladies' darts player, having beaten the 7 times champion Trina Gulliver. Here, she competes in an England Open tournament at the Bunn Leisure Holiday Park in Selsey, near Chichester on the south coast of England. Attractive and feminine, she is confident and at ease with her game amid many lesbian women who frequent darts matches like this. She concentrates on each dart thrown and is oblivious to the audience's noise behind her in an upstairs pub at the holiday park. This is one of her many tournaments she travels to during the darts events calendar although she needs to repeatedly renew her visa to gain re-entry into the UK.
