  • The Virgin-sponsored HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) Explorer helicopter lands among trees in Ruskin Park, London. Used as a landing point for these helicopters has become increasingly important for head trauma patients needing to reach specialist medical teams at the nearby Kings College Hospital o Denmark Hill. As the aircraft slows and swoops its pilots put it down on empty ground to where an NHS ambulance can access the stretchered victim. London’s Air Ambulance is a registered charity that runs London’s only helicopter emergency medical service, serving the 10 million people who live, work and commute within the capital's M25 orbital motorway.

  • Following UK commercial driving law, a lorry driver relaxes by reading in a window at the M40 motorway services in Warwickshire, England. Leaning back while engrossed in his book, the man is sitting in sunlight on this summer's day. Outside is a poster advertising the premium ice cream brand, Magnum. A girl is shown also lounging about enjoying a Magnum on a beautiful sun-kissed beach, with the sun reflecting on a calm sea. We see Magnum's web site and their products of Classic and White chocolate snacks in their wrappers. The man is oblivious to the nature of the ad but it lends a sense of paradise versus reality, between the fantasy of youth, natural beauty and the reality of an older working man on the road.

The hybrid NB4L, or the Borismaster, New Routemaster or Boris Bus, is a 21st century replacement of the iconic Routemaster as a bus built specifically for use in London and is said to be 40 per cent more fuel efficient than conventional diesel buses. The brainchild of London's Conservative mayor Boris Johnson, its funding has been controversial amid massive fare increases in transport.

  • The Sir Christopher, an SR.N4 Hovercraft arriving at Ramsgate from the French coast. The SR.N4 (Saunders-Roe Nautical 4) hovercraft was a large passenger and vehicle carrying hovercraft built by the British Hovercraft Corporation (BHC). Work on the SR.N4 began in 1965 and the first trials took place in early 1968. The SR.N4 was the largest hovercraft built to that date, designed to carry 254 passengers in two cabins besides a two-lane automobile bay which held up to 30 cars. Cars were driven from a bow ramp just forward of the cockpit / wheelhouse. The SR.N4's operated services across the English Channel between 1968 and 2000, when the Channel Tunnel made their service unprofitable.

  • In a back south London garden (yard) we see a detail of a London borough of Lambeth council green waste recycling bag. This local authority once provided for free, up to three bags per household purely for the use of garden and plant material instead of it going to landfill. But in the era of government and economic cuts, this is one service now charged for in 2011. The stenciled lettering tells home owners that only organic waste should be put in before a fortnightly collection from the street outside.
