  • The upright remains of a Pennygowan Cemetery (Caol Fhaoileann), Salen Isle of Mull, Scotland. Within the chapel, erected on a modern base, is the lower part of a cross-shaft 1.33m high above ground. On the front there has been a Crucifix; below this a large plant scroll terminates in a griffin. At the foot is a galley with sail set. This cross dates to between 1500 and 1560 and the ruined chapel is probably of early 13th century date. No medieval references to it have been identified, and its dedication is unknown though it is referred to both as a 'Chappell' and as a 'paroach'. The building may already have been derelict at this period, although the earliest evidence of its condition dates from 1787 when it was shown as 'an old kirk' on a map of Torosay parish.

  • During a weekday lunchtime in the City of London, a young man sleeps on the grass in St. Paul's Churchyard, near the outer walls of the cathedral. Office workers have gathered with friends and colleagues taking advantage of warm weather to lie on the grass and eat their lunches. The man is asleep on the short lawn, having spent 20 minutes fiddling with his iPhone, scrolling through messages and sending emails after finishing his own sandwich, which has been put away next to his prone body, in a plastic bag. A council worker pushes a wheelbarrow along the path laden with refuse as the young man lies resting before another afternoon at his nearby desk.

  • A woman walks past a window ad for the forthcoming London Fashion Week. A model is seen on a TV screen as it scrolls through a loop of film, telling us how stylish and modern the annual event will soon be in the capital. The words London and Fashion have been written across the window of a sunglasses retailer on Long Acre in the capital's Covent Garden. Both model and passer-by are holding possessions in the same way and others are in the background on this busy junction in the West End.
