  • Dressed in oragne Guantanamo Bay jump suits two protesters pretend to be President Barack Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron wanted for war crimes. Protest in central London to mark 10 years of the conflict in Afghanistan. Musicians, actors, film-makers and MPs are joining protesters for the Anti-war Mass Assembly in Trafalgar Square. The Stop The War Coalition said up to 5,000 people were at the protest but a BBC correspondent estimated there were about 1,000 people in the square. The coalition says opinion polls show most British people want a "speedy withdrawal" of UK forces. The demo brought together people from many groups in solidarity.

  • Days after the September 11th 2001 attacks in New York and Washington DC, the US government had identified Osama Bin Laden as the head culprit of the terrorist action on America. Here, a businessman wearing a smart dark suit and polished loafers bends down to buy the latest copy of the New York Daily News from an African American vendor near Wall Street in the heart of New York’s financial district. Bin Laden’s demonic face is spread across the front page and the words “Wanted: Dead or Alive” tells Americans that their al-Qaeda evil-doer will be caught eventually, like a baddie rounded up by the Sheriff by the last scene of a Hollywood western.

  • Serb politician Radovan Karadzic is seen leaning over to address the London Conference in 1992 when peace-makers attempted to diffuse the Bosnian European conflict. As one of the world's most wanted men, Karadzic was eventually arrested after 12 years on the run to face charges of genocide and crimes against humanity inflicted on Bosnian Muslim, Bosnian Croat and other non-Serb civilians in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the 1992-95 war, when he was president of the breakaway Republika Srpska. Implicated in the murder of nearly 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys in Srebrenica, after a UN-protected enclave fell to Bosnian Serb forces. The former psychiatrist and aspiring poet is also charged with running death camps for non-Serbs, and the shelling and sniping on civilians in the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, in a siege that lasted more than three years.

  • On a bright summer afternoon, a young spoiled girl shows-off by riding her favourite motorized Barbie trike along The Parade, the main promenade in the north Welsh seaside town of Llandudno, Wales. Wearing a bright pink helmet and travelling on the matching pink toy bike, she trundles along with the low-tide coast over her left shoulder. Barbie is a best-selling fashion doll launched in 1959 and produced by Mattel, Inc. The brand's merchandising reaches far and wide to countries and cultures around the world and this little girl seems to be the happiest on the beach, enjoying a generous present perhaps from a parent. She is the exact age that Mattel are targeting when they market these toys to accompany their dolls and accessories though the industry has come under fire for its controversial stereotyping of gender and subtle sexuality.

  • Sharline Dagou, 24, was a secretary at a restaurant in Petion-Ville, she poses with her mother and brother outside her house. "I was in my bedroom with my family when the quake struck. "The first shock was smaller like a preview of the next one. The door was blocked, but we pushed and got out but my younger brother was caught. When we came out we saw our houses destroyed. Now we have nothing. I even lost my shoes and have been barefoot for the last three weeks. Most of the families who lost people have left, they cannot bare to stay. We pray to cope with our sadness. A Dominican missionary came to give us courage, he told us we have to accept because we love God. "I often cry, but I still smile as well. We have to, we have to hope for the future. Where there is life there is hope."

Some of the activists wanted to take the road for political reasons but police blocked them from doing so. No arrests were made. The authorities had refused permission for the march to walk on the road into Davos so many hiked across the mountains from Klosters to get there. The march is a three day protest against the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos. The activists want climate justice and think that The WEF is for the worlds richest and political elite only.
