  • After an internal meeting, a male employee is ready to leave a small conference room at the British Airways' corporate headquarters at Waterside at Harmondsworth near Heathrow Airport. Themed rooms like this are titled after BA's destinations - in this case, the southern French Cote d'Azur town of Nice. The man is reaching out to shake a colleague's hand before they all exit and re-convene elsewhere. Focus is on the room's name and not on the man, who remains anonymous. From writer Alain de Botton's book project "A Week at the Airport: A Heathrow Diary" (2009).

  • Eileen Hallifield and her husband, Richard, own Dunstall Hector, a two-year-old Longhorn bull. He has had conditioner added to the last lot of water, to keep his coat from drying out. 'They come to like the grooming because it makes their coat so nice and clean,' Hallifield says. 'It would feel nice, wouldn't it? They are like one of the family, although they are not a pet like a cat or a dog because eventually they have to go,' Hallifield adds. Dunstall Hector has since been sold for breeding, but the Hallifields will have a framed portrait of him in their living-room. The hairdryers are out and the shampoo is flowing at the Great Yorkshire Show, one of Britain's biggest agricultural shows. Its famous for its competitive displays of livestock. The event, established in 1837, attracts over 125 000 visitors a year and has over 10 000 entries to its pedigree competitions ranging from pigeons and rabbits to bulls and shire horses. At the heart of the show is the passion of the exhibitors who spend hundreds of hours ( and pounds) training, preparing and grooming their animals.

  • Two Orthodox Jewish men select their Etrog (Citron) for the festival of Sukkot, the feast of Tabernacles. The etrog is used in the mitzvah of the four species. Everyone has their own personal choice of etrog, some prefer more bumps, the important thing to look out for is a nice form and shape and it should be unblemished. The holiday of Sukkot commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert.

We use plastic gloves and put them in plastic body bags. It's not a nice job, the smell almost kills me. I have to drink to get through but I know I am helping the families. The parents are waiting for me each time I pull a body out so they can identify it. They buy me my rum. I have pulled out one body today but twenty-five in total."

  • Samuel Makomi 42 (Photographed on edge of dump). "I use to make bags but was fired from my job so I have worked here ever since , its been over 20 years now. “Its not a safe or nice place to work. You can get injuries here from bottles and infections from needles; I got malaria once and was ill for a month. There is fighting here as well when the boys get high or they are fighting over something valuable; and fatalities. A man was high and slipped and fell under the path of a lorry – another broke his leg. I would like to start my own business selling shoes or clothes but cannot afford to save. I make about 150 – 200 shillings a day ( £1-1.50).”

  • Cashmere clothing on display alongside yellow construction scaffolding sleeves in central London. Juxtaposed next to the yellow casings on the scaffolding poles, we see the incongruous nature of the shop mannequin, deserving more of a sympathetic context. Both models wear a tartan skirt or bottom which sets off nicely with the scarlet red duffel coat on the right.
