  • A dog owner bends down to pick up his dog's mess in an Autumnal park. Surrounded by autumn leaves, brown and yellow in afternoon sunlight, the man stoops to collect the dog's crap on the grass in Ruskin Park in the London borough of Lambeth. In the background are Edwardian period homes on Finsen Road, SE24. If in contact with such organic material, it's known to cause Toxocariasis - especially in children - a condition caused by bacteria that travels to the human eye so it is expected that pet owners take the faeces away, wrapped in plastic bags and deposited in specially-provided bins at various entrance and exit gates.

  • Charity shop donations strewn in the gutter outside a local thrifty shop in south London. Among autumn leaves are someone's old possessions strewn across the gutter outside the thrift shop in East Dulwich in south London. Childrens's toys and a young person's treasured items seen opposite a green bin where Shoes and Textiles can be deposited. But a common problem is that charity donors leave unwanted things outside in the street, for others to come and rifle through, leaving a mess that's difficult for volunteers to clean up.

  • A dystopian landscape of construction materials and an inspirational view above the city - seen through a wire and netting street fence. Lettering on the hoarding tells us the scene below is inspirational, a capital from a new perspective. But the mess of aggregates and soil, tools and rubble tell a different story: an incongruous landscape of an idealised city and the reality of unfinished work.

  • A landscape in a London street of street rubbish (garbage) left below a Stella Artois alcohol billboard. A chic man and woman from the sixties (1960s) stand with all the confidence of the style of a previous era with a landscape of the Mediterranean with its azure blue waters. But the reality of 2011 south London is a far removed from the utopia on the ad. Fly tipping has added to the already untidy pavement (sidewalk) also blocking pedestrian access. Wheelie bins and plastic bags of rubbish attract vermin and poor hygiene and the council workmen will soon appear to once again clear away the mess - before another pile appears.

  • A Bedouin inspects rubbish left in desert sand dunes near the Dahkla Oasis, Western Desert, Egypt. The past few decades have been difficult for traditional Bedouin culture due to changing surroundings and the establishment of new resort towns on the Red Sea coast, such as Sharm el-Sheikh. Bedouins in Egypt are facing a number of challenges: erosion of traditional values, unemployment, and various land issues. The Western Desert covers an area of some 700,000 km2, thereby accounting for around two-thirds of Egypt's total land area. Dakhla Oasis is one of the seven oases of Egypt's Western Desert (part of the Libyan Desert). It lies in the New Valley Governorate, 350 km (220 mi.) and measures approximately 80 km (50 mi) from east to west and 25 km (16 mi) from north to south.

  • Early morning rubbish overspilling a litter bin in Dorsoduro, a district of Venice, Italy. The detritus of tourism is left from the previous day but soon to be collected by an army of refuse workers who sweep and clean the city's streets before the day's influx of tourists begins once again. On this street corner, we see drinks bottles and general waste on top of an already overflowing bin, above the ad for swimwear brand Calzedonia. Venice attracts 22-million visitors each year (for a city of only about 60,000 residents) while the cultural protection organisation, Italian Nostra, warns that Venice can only accommodate about 33,000 visitors per day but currently at least 60,000 daily.

  • The semi-derelict bunkhouse at the former WW2 Wendling air base, Norfolk, England. Opened in 1942, it was used by both the Royal Air Force (RAF) and United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). During the war it was used primarily as a bomber airfield, being the home of the United States Army Air Forces Eighth Air Force 392nd Bombardment Group. The group flew B-24 Liberators as part of the Eighth Air Force's strategic bombing campaign. The 392d BG entered combat on 9 September 1943 and engaged primarily in bombardment of strategic objectives on the Continent until April 1945. The group attacked such targets as an oil refinery at Gelsenkirchen, a marshalling yard at Osnabrück, a railroad viaduct at Bielefeld, steel plants at Brunswick, a tank factory at Kassel, and gas works at Berlin. With the end of military control the airfield has become a turkey farm.

  • Possessions and rubbish collects outside a repossessed Victorian terraced house in south London. In the foreground we see a For Sale sign strapped on the brick wall by local estate agents Burnet Ware & Graves in Herne Hill, Lambeth SE24. The front bay window has been sealed up with plyboard to stop squatters gaining entrance and the domestic remnants of evicted owners who have perhaps defaulted on their mortgage is thrown on the path - a scene of domestic poverty. As a result of the 1987 a stock market collapse, the UK economy experienced a downturn resulting in public services suffering a reduction, including the loss of owners' homes. The recession of the early 1990s describes the period of economic downturn affecting much of the world in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

"Homes for the Homeless, not Yuppies" it reads along with the Anarchists' Circle-A symbol, meaning that housing should be made available for families needing a roof over their heads, rather than overpricing properties for the middle-classes buying for profit and investment. We see the writing on the wall beneath pictures in windows of houses and flats in the SE24 area where prices are posted along with details of the buildings. Packaging, foodstuffs and general waste has been tossed away on this otherwise beautiful place, north of the capital Male. Unfortunately, the practice of tossing away one's rubbish is a normal practice in this culture, the local people selfishly unconcerned about the future of their habitat and the health of their community. In this side street of a south London suburb, we see the garbage lying on the pavement (sidewalk) surrounded by autumnal maple leaves. The wall in the background has been roughly painted, the bricks starting to crack. But the picture is about the similar colours of the wall to the Southwark borough council bags that are provided free for residents wishing to dispose of green garden waste only. • The island rubbish dump, 27th May 1997, on Ascension, a small area of approximately 88 km² isolated volcanic island in the equatorial waters of the South Atlantic Ocean, roughly midway between the horn of South America and Africa. It is governed as part of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. Organised settlement of Ascension Island began in 1815, when the British garrisoned it as a precaution after imprisoning Napoleon I on Saint Helena. In January 2016 the UK Government announced that an area around Ascension Island was to become a huge marine reserve, to protect its varied and unique ecosystem, including some of the largest marlin in the world, large populations of green turtle, and the islands own species of frigate bird. With an area of 234,291 square kilometres 90,460 sq mi, slightly more than half of the reserve will be closed to fishing.
